T20 World Cup: Star leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has not been included in India's 15-member squad for the ICC T20 World Cup. A day after the team was announced, Chahal's wife and choreographer Dhanashree Verma shared an emotional post. Dhanashree Verma reacted to the team selection saying that "this phase too shall pass".

Dhanashree shared her pain through the story on Instagram. She wrote, "Mother says that this phase too shall pass. Live with your head held high as talent and good deeds always support. This phase too shall pass. God is always great."

Chahal has been India's leading wicket-taker in the T20s. Chahal has taken 63 wickets in 49 matches at an average of 25.30 and an economy rate of 8.32. Yuzvendra Chahal was not named in the World Cup squad.

BCCI clarifies

India opted for five spin options in Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Varun Chakravarthy, Axar Patel, and Rahul Chahar, but still, there was no space for Yuzi Chahal. After the announcement, people on social media are surprised that Chahal has been dropped from the squad for the T20 World Cup. Yuzvendra Chahal, however, has not responded so far on his non-selection.

The BCCI, however, has clarified Chahal's exclusion. Chetan Sharma, the former Indian fast bowler, and chairman of the selection panel said, "We need a spinner who can deliver with more speed. So Rahul Chahar got priority over Chahal."

Chahal will now be seen playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the second leg of IPL 2021 in UAE. Chahal has a chance to make it to the team by October 10 if he manages to do well in the IPL.
