Jaskaran Malhotra became the second player after Herschelle Gibbs to smash six sixes in one over. He hit 36 runs in the 50th over of the match against Papua New Guinea in Oman. The wicket-keeper batsman became the first individual to score a century from the United States of America (USA). 


The match between the USA and Papua New Guinea was being played at the Al Amerat Stadium in Oman. Jaskaran Malhotra was batting at 137 when the 50th over started. Gaudi Toka, the Papua New Guinea bowler was smashed for six huge sixes by the USA batsman.

Jaskaran Malhotra was born in Chandigarh and then moved to the United States. He has seven ODIs and six T20Is under his name. Batting at no.5, Malhotra smashed 173 runs in 124 balls. This also marked the highest runs scored by any batsman at mo.5 in ODIs. Earlier, this record was held by AB De Villiers of South Africa who had scored 162 batting at number 5. 


Malhotra's innings included 16 sixes and just four 4s. Herschelle Gibbs was the only other player to have hit six sixes in an over in ODI. Yuvraj Singh also did it, but his record came during a T20I match against England in 2007.






Eventually, USA scored 271 runs in the first innings and bowled Papua New Guinea for 137 runs, and registered a 134 run victory. 


Jaskaran Malhotra was adjudged the man of the match.
