The World Test Championship final is slated to take place at the Oval on June 7 between India and Australia. Both teams have already arrived and started preparing for the high-profile clash. With the WTC final just a day away, India’s skipper Rohit Sharma was spotted wearing a bandage on his right arm while taking part in a training session.
As soon as the picture was posted, it went viral on social media and fans started raising questions as to whether Rohit is fully fit or not. It is expected that the fans will get an answer in the press conference that is scheduled on the eve of the final on Tuesday.
Rohit has struggled with his injuries in the past too as he missed out on playing 8 Test matches in the 2021/23 WTC cycle. Team India are already missing the services of their ace speedster Jasprit Bumrah, who has been ruled out because of an injury. Shreyas Iyer on the other hand is also down with injury while Rishabh Pant is still recuperating from the serious car crash he sustained last year.
To have more than one keeping option, KL Rahul was roped in by the Indian team, but then he also suffered a hamstring injury during IPL 2023 and was ruled out of the ICC final. Ishan Kishan was asked to replace him in the WTC final squad.
Earlier, skipper Rohit Sharma also talked about the challenges a batter faces while batting in England.
"Look, I think, in England in general, it's pretty challenging conditions for batters. As long as you are prepared to have a good grind, you can have success," Rohit said during an ICC event.
"One thing I realised in 2021, you are never in (set) and the weather keeps changing. You need to keep concentrating for longer periods of time and you will get that intuition when it's time to take on the bowlers. More importantly you need to be out there and you have got to understand what your strengths are," the skipper said.
