Former Australian captain, Steve Smith’s remarkable comeback on the cricket field has created quite stir on social media.


The 29-year-old Aussie batsman is currently in Canada to feature in the inaugural edition of the Global T20 tournament. He has been inducted in the team, Toronto Nationals – led by Darren Sammy.


In the opening match of the tournament, the Nationals played against Chris Gayle led Vancouver Knights on June 28. While chasing a target of 228 runs, Smith smashed a fiery 41-ball 61 including 8 boundaries and a six. Though he lost his wicket in the 14th over of the match to Aussie spinner Fawad Ahmed, his innings garnered a huge appreciation from the cricket fanatics.


Adding to the list of applauders, Afghanistan’s star spinner Rashid Khan expressed how much he enjoyed watching Smith’s innings. He took to his official twitter account to praise the banned Aussie batsman and wrote:


‘Pleased to see him back to the game and played classical inning well Played @stevesmith49 mate 🙌🏻👍🏻’.
