India’s batter Virat Kohli will be cutting his birthday cake at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata ahead of the ODI World Cup 2023 game against South Africa on November 5, Sunday. The 34-year-old batter will be celebrating his 35th birthday on the same date. The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) will make all the necessary arrangements ahead of the game against South Africa reported by Revv Sportz.


After outclassing the Kiwis, the Indian team is currently standing at the top of the points table and will lock horns against the defending champions England at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow, followed by the game against Sri Lanka in Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. The former India skipper has been stellar as he has collected  354 runs in 5 innings including a century. Kohli is on the number three spot in the top run-getters list.






Cricketer turned commentator Sunil Gavaskar also feels that Kohli will score his 50th ODI century on his birthday.


“Kohli will slam his 50th ODI Century against South Africa at the Eden Gardens and what better occasion than his birthday? It’s a sight when you slam a ton there because the Kolkata crowd gives you a standing ovation, and cheers for you, the air is filled with whistles and claps. It is a moment to savour for every batter,” said Gavaskar.


Previously, star all-rounder Hardik Pandya also celebrated his birthday on the field in the ongoing mega event when India was playing against Afghanistan at New Delhi’s Arun  Jaitley Stadium. Talking about India’s run in the ongoing World Cup, they have won all of their five encounters so far. They are next slated to lock horns against the defending champions- England, at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on Sunday.
