In what could be a huge setback for the Indian women's cricket team ahead of their crucial semifinal match against Australia, their captain Harmanpreet Kaur is doubtful for the match. It is being reported that the Indian skipper has not yet recovered fully from high fever before the team's do-or-die game. Meanwhile, fast bowler Pooja Vastrakar has been ruled out of the match due to a upper respiratory tract infection.
If Harmanpreet fails to recover in time, vice-captain Smriti Mandhana would be leading the side in her absence. A report carried by news agency PTI suggests that Harmanpreet, Vastrakar and left-arm spinner Radha Yadav had paid a visit to a local hospital for a through check-up. While the medical team is keeping a close eye on the 33-year-old's condition, it is not yet clear whether she would be able to take the field for a high-pressure game starting hours later.
India Squad: Smriti Mandhana (vice-captain), Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodrigues, Harmanpreet Kaur (captain), Richa Ghosh (wk), Devika Vaidya, Deepti Sharma, Pooja Vastrakar, Shikha Pandey, Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Renuka Thakur Singh, Radha Yadav, Harleen Deol, Anjali Sarvani, Yastika Bhatia
