Continuous rain and wet outfield at the venue have been the two reasons for the delayed starts on all three match days and even a complete washout of Day 2.

India are currently sitting atop the WTC 2023-25 standings with seven wins in 10 matches and boast the PCT of 71.67. They are the favourites for the WCT final, slated to take place next year.
How Will A Draw In IND vs BAN Kanpur Test Affect India's WTC Final Scenario?
A 2-0 series victory over Bangladesh would have shot India’s PCT to 74.24 with them needing just three more wins from their remaining eight matches to secure a spot in the final, with three of those games set to be played at home against New Zealand and India being favourites for the series.
However, if the IND vs BAN Kanpur Test ends in a draw, India’s PCT will drop to 68.18 and they will have to register a win in five Tests matches out of the next eight matches in order to confirm a place in the WTC final, provided the other contenders for a top-two finish on the WTC points table don’t drop any points in the meantime.
After playing New Zealand at home, India are scheduled to play the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia where they will play five Tests in Australia. Therefore, to confirm a WTC final berth, they will first need to clean-sweep New Zealand 3-0 at home and then need to win at least two Tests against Australia down under, if the ongoing IND vs BAN Test in Kanpur ends in a draw.
