Thiruvananthapuram: Virat Kohli continued his rich run of form and scored and brought up yet another international hundred during the 3rd ODI against Sri Lanka at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. The right-handed batter remained unbeaten on 166 off 100 balls which he scored with the help of 13 fours and 8 sixes.
However, one particular shot from his innings that has made headlines is his six off Kasun Rajitha in the 46th over of the innings which covered a distance of 97 metres. Kohli had gone past his hundred at this time in the innings and was looking to help India finish the innings on a high when he judged the slower ball early, went down the track and aced an MS Dhoni-inspired helicopter shot for a massive six over long on.
The video of his shot was even shared by BCCI on their verified handle.
As a result of Kohli's hundred which came after Shubman Gill also scored a century in the third ODI, India posted massive total of 390/5. In response though, Sri Lanka came nowhere near as they were bundled out for a mere 73 with Mohammed Siraj finishing with figures of 4 for 32. Mohammed Shami and Kuldeep Yadav also chipped in with 2 wickets each.
India broke the record for largest win margin by runs as they emerged as the winner by 317 runs in this game. The previous record belonged to New Zealand who had won a game aganinst Ireland by 290 runs.
For scoring 2 hundreds in the series, Kohli was adjudged both the Player of the match and the Player of the Series.
