Thisara Perera accomplished a feat which doesn’t happen every day of the year. The Sri Lanka all-rounder hit six sixes of one over. He was playing in the Major Clubs Limited Over Tournament between Sri Lanka Army Sports Club and Bloomfield Cricket and Athletic Club. The 31-year old was playing in full flow.

The match had to be cut short to 41 overs due to rain. The score before 40th over was 282/3 and then Perera came in to face the last over. What happened next would have been imagined by no one. Dilhaan Cooray was the unfortunate bowler bowling to Perera. He kept on bowling full tosses to him and Perera kept on dispatching those balls for sixes. It brought back the memories of Herschelle Gibbs’ six sixes against Netherlands.

Here is the video of the six sixes. WATCH:

Army Sports Club – Perera’s team – finally posted a score of 318/3 in to overs.

Thisara Perera is the ninth batsman over-all to have scored a double hundred in ODI’s. Out of the nine only Herchelle Gibbs, Yuvraj Singh and Kieron Pollard have scored six sixes in international. Rest all are from domestic or List A Matches.

Sir Garfield Sobers was the first man to hit six sixes in a single over.  He was followed by Ravi Shastri, Herschelle Gibbs, Yuvraj Singh, Ross Whitely, Hazratullah Zizai, Leo Carter, Kieron Pollard, Thisara Perera:

Yuvraj and Gibbs scored in T20I and ODI World Cup 2007 respectively. While others in the list have reached the feat in their repetitive.

Nonetheless, Perera has reached a unique feat and  he will enjoy for as long he can.
