While it was a memorable Test comeback for ex-Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed in the home series against England, in a recent television show, he has gone on to rate himself as the best captain of the national team. He rated himself better than the likes of Babar Azam and Azhar Ali. Notably, Sarfaraz famously led the Men in Green to victory in the 2017 Champions Trophy where Pakistan handed a defeat to India in the finals.
It is pertinent to note that Sarfaraz was also the skipper of the U-19 side that beat India in the finals of the World Cup in 2006 which featured the likes of Rohit Sharma, Cheteshwar Pujara and Piyush Chawla. He was given the leadership baton of the senior men's team in 2015 but was not only removed as the captain but even lost his place in the side post the 2019 ODI World Cup debacle.

Safaraz is currently leading the Quetta Gladiators in the ongoing season of Pakistan Super League (PSL). After picking himself as the best captain, he says, "It’s better to take your own name rather than making anybody else angry."
The 35-year-old hasn't been in the best of form with the bat in the T20 tournament so far and has only managed 62 runs from 4 innings at an average of 20.66, thanks to his one innings where he remained not out. 39 of his 62 runs came in just 1 innings. His strike rate hasn't been impressive either at just a run a ball.
Surely, the right-handed cricketer would have to deliver better performances if he aims to make a national comeback in white-ball cricket where Mohammad Rizwan is the preferred keeper-batter and has been a consistent run-getter.
