How Dare You: Netizens Slam Iceland Cricket For Questioning Virat Kohli's Test Form

Virat Kohli's last Test hundred came against Bangladesh in 2019.

India have been in terrific form in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy. While they won the series opener at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur by an innings and 132 runs, they went on to beat the Aussies by 6 wickets in the second Test match in Delhi. Despite plenty of positives for the hosts in the first two Tests, among those who haven't yet been at their prime form is Virat Kohli. While the ex-India captain did look good playing his first match in his hometown in four years, he only produced scores of 44 and 20 in both the innings of the fixture at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

This further elongated his Test hundred drought and many were quick to take a dig at Kohli despite proving for several years before the slump that he is among the world's best batters. Even though the 34-year-old has got back to scoring centuries in limited-overs cricket, he is far from his best in Test matches where his last hundred came in 2019.

After his three low scores in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Iceland Cricket took to Twitter to highlight Kohli's poor form. However, the same hasn't gone down too well with the netizens. 

"This statistic won't please many of our Indian fans, but it is now 23 Tests since Virat Kohli scored a century, which was back in 2019. How long is too long?," Iceland Cricket had tweeted. A displeased Kohli fan replied to it saying: "How dare you ask any question on the bestest batsmen ever of last 140 yrs. Today you are questioning his last 3 yrs of poor test form. Wait for another 3 yrs than my King will shut your mouth by his performance."

"He is coming back to form format by format. He was already back and yet looked out of sorts in 2 odis before hitting 3 centuries later. Spin had been his issue of late across formats and his 44(83) and 21(30) were signs he has begun combatting it," argued another user.

"Hundreds alone cannot define a batter," wrote another.

Kohli himself would be determined to get back to scoring hundreds in the format he has admitted to be his favourite.
