While the men-in-blue cruised into the ICC World Cup 2019 semi-finals after beating Bangladesh by 28 runs, an octogenarian fan stole the limelight with her sheer enthusiasm. 87-year-old Charulata Patel caught everyone's eyes when she was seen ardently cheering for team India during their batting at Edgbaston.

After a ‘nail-biting but yet soothing’ victory, Indian skipper Virat Kohli and his deputy Rohit Sharma took out time to meet their special fan. They both met Charulata and sought her blessings. A video of this lovely meeting was shared on the official Twitter handle of Cricket World Cup.

Here’s the video:

Kohli met Patel after the match and shared a picture with the fan on his Twitter.

“Also would like to thank all our fans for all the love & support & especially Charulata Patel ji. She's 87 and probably one of the most passionate & dedicated fans I've ever seen. Age is just a number, the passion takes you leaps & bounds. With her blessings, on to the next one,” Kohli tweeted.

Virat's wife and leading Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma and other members of the film fraternity also appreciated this gesture.

India went on to win the match as they defeated Bangladesh by 28 runs.

With the victory, India have sealed their semi-final spot as they have now 13 points and consolidated their second position on the points table.

India will now compete against Sri Lanka on July 6.
