New Delhi: Virat Kohli jumping up in the air or pumping his fists after scoring a century is a common site in cricket now. And Day 3 of the final India-England Test at Chennai was no exception. Only this time around Virat celebrated not for his own heroics with the bat but for his team mate Lokesh Rahul.

Virat Kohli had just come into bat after the dismissal of Cheteshwar Pujara and was on a personal score of 1 when a few thousand assembled at the Chepauk got behind KL Rahul, who was on 98. Rahul nudged the ball towards mid-wicket and set off for a quick single, the throw from the fielder evaded the stumps and allowed the Indian pair to run over throws as Rahul reached his fourth Test century.

It was at that moment Chennai witnessed Virat Kohli’s celebration even before he had completed the second run. The arms went up in the air and defining smile greeted KL Rahul for his superb knock.

Rahul announced his return to form with a superlative knock but unfortunately fell just one short of what would have been his maiden double hundred. Nevertheless, the made sure a solid foundation was laid for Team India as they reached 391/4 at stumps on Day 3, only 86 behind England’s first innings total of 477.
