Witnessing six sixes in an over is the most exciting moment for every cricket lover and today was one such day. West Indies captain Kieron Pollard on Thursday joined Yuvraj Singh and Herschelle Gibbs in the elite list of players to hit six sixes in an over in international cricket. The mega show happened when 'The Punisher' Keiron Pollard hit Sri Lanka's Akila Dananjaya for 36 runs in the sixth over while chasing a target of 132 in the first T20I in Antigua.

Pollard hit the ball high in the air out of the boundaries 6 times in the 6th over of West Indies' successful chase in the first T20I at the Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua.

All the drama unfolded in the second innings with West Indies chasing a modest 132 for victory at the Coolidge Cricket Ground.

West Indies were cruising on 52 without loss in the fourth-over with Evin Lewis and Lendl Simmons hammering the bowlers of Sri Lanka. Spinner Akila Dananjaya then turned the match on its head with a hat-trick having dismissed Evin Lewis, Chris Gayle and Nicholas Pooran conceded 62 runs off his four overs.

It soon became 62/4 when Simmons fell for 26.

However, Pollard wiped the smile off Dananjaya’s face in the sixth over as the  West Indies captain struck the spinner for six consecutive sixes. It was the third time a batsman achieved that in international cricket.

West Indies won the match by 4 wickets with 41 balls in hand. The second match will be played on Friday at 6 pm.

People recall Yuvraj Singh smashing 6-Sixes

Yuvraj Singh had become the first player to hit 6 sixes in an over in T20I cricket against England's Stuart Broad in the inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup in 2007.  The incident took place in a T20 World Cup match between India and England in Kingsmead Durban. The unfortunate bowler who faced the brunt of Yuvraj’s force was pacer Stuart Broad. The score was 171/3 at the end of the 18th over. India had its hopes high to put on a good score with Yuvraj Singh and the then skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni on the crease. The Men in Blue went for broke in the death overs and punished the English bowlers. Just before Broad’s over, Yuvraj had a verbal altercation with England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff. This possibly fired up the Punjab batsman and the rest is history.

Overall, Pollard is the third batsman to hit six sixes in an over in international cricket. South Africa's Herschelle Gibbs was the first cricketer to achieve the feat, scoring 36 runs in an over against The Netherlands in the 2007 ODI World Cup.
