Blackcaps Appoint Sri Lankan Legend As Spin-Bowling Coach Ahead Of Upcoming Test Series In Asia

Sri Lanka legend Rangana Herath has joined the camp of Blackcaps as their spin-bowling coach ahead of the side's Test series against Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, and India.

New Zealand's tour of Asia sees them play six Test matches, out of which five are a part of WTC 2023-25. Alongside Herath, New Zealand have also confirmed the appointment of Vikram Rathour, who's expertise will come in handy during the Test series against India.

"We’re really excited to introduce Rangana and Vikram into our Test group. Both men are held in high regard in the world of cricket and I know our players are really looking forward to the opportunity to learn from them. For our three left-arm orthodox spinners in particular, Ajaz, Mitch and Rachin, having the chance to work with Rangana across three Tests on the sub-continent will be hugely beneficial," said Gary Stead, New Zealand Head Coach.

"Rangana has taken over 100 Test wickets in Galle which is the venue of our two Tests against Sri Lanka and so his knowledge of that venue will be priceless," he added.
