WATCH: India A, Bangladesh A Players Get Involved In Ugly On-Field Quarrel, Umpires Intervene In Emerging Teams Asia Cup Semifinal
India A vs Bangladesh A: Harshit Rana and Soumya Sarkar were at the centre of the on-field quarrel
While it is only humane to lose one's calm especially in the heat of a moment during a high-pressure sporting contest, it seems like episodes of on-field arguments is becoming more and more common in an India vs Bangladesh match during cricket matches. And this time around, it happened during the India A vs Bangladesh A ACC Men's Emerging Teams Asia Cup semifinal. Not only the senior men's team but even the U19 teams of India and Bangladesh have been involved in on-field spats in the past including post the 2020 World Cup final.
The most recent chapter to this saga happened at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Friday. During the semifinal, there was palpable tension between the two teams especially after the manner in which Bangladesh players were giving animated send offs by the Bangladesh side. Most notably, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, who was part of the U-19 contingent that had a on-field fight with Indian players in that World Cup, gave one such send off to India A's Riyan Parag. However, in that instance no one from the Indian team gave any reaction.
During the second innings though when it was India's A chance to field, the team was charged up and ready to give it back to the Bangladesh side. While the Bangladesh openers had got off to a good start when Indian spinners picked a couple of wickets, the Indian team's spirits started to rise. But when India A's Abhishek Sharma and Nishant Sandhu gave a send off to the experienced Soumya Sarkar in the 26th over of the innings, much like Bangladesh A had given to India A batters, things got a bit ugly.

Post Sarkar was dismissed, a few words were said to him by India A's Harshit Rana who also signalled him to go the dressing room. However, the Bangladesh all-rounder too retaliated and came closer to Rana who had by then been joined by other India A teammates. Eventually, India A went on to win the match by 51 runs and secure a place for themselves in the final.
