India vs England: Thrilled to watch Captain Virat Kohli bat against England, an ardent supporter ran towards Kohli midway into the pitch during the first day of the third Test match between India and England being played at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. However, knowing about the constraints amid Covid 19, Virat Kohli stepped away.
The Indian skipper spotted him from far away and he immediately took a few steps back, asking the fan to return. The fan realized his mistake soon and turned back. He was escorted by officials and the game was halted for 1 minute. Seeing this incident the entire crowd started cheering. As part of the bio-bubble protocols, there is a high amount of strictness and the players and match officials are not allowed to meet anybody.
When ANI contacted a GCA official about the fan breaching the protocols, he replied: "We will look into the matter and we will find out who the fan was. Some sort of action will be taken as the matter is serious and the safety of everyone is of utmost importance."
India vs England third Test is tilted majorly in favor of India after the end of Day 1. Rohit Sharma held the fort going into the night before Indian spinners won the first two sessions of the day. Visitors were bowled out for a meager total of 112 as England’s poor form with the bat continued.
Meanwhile, Indian skipper Virat Kohli is worried that the lights at the Narendra Modi Stadium here could potentially impact visibility and said the players will need to adapt quickly. The refurbished stadium, the largest cricketing arena in the world, doesn’t have the traditional floodlight towers but a ring of LED lights around the perimeter of its roof.
It is similar to the ”ring of fire” at the Dubai International Stadium, which often poses a challenge to the fielding side. “It is such an exciting atmosphere here at the largest cricket stadium. I’m a bit more worried about the lights than the colour of the seats,” Kohli said at the toss ahead of the day/night Test against England.
