Iftikhar Ahmed has been in sensational form recently especially in T20 Cricket. Adding to the list of some of the special performances he has produced in the sport's shortest format, was his innings on Sunday (February 5, 2023) against Peshawar Zalmi, while playing for the Quetta Gladiators in an exhibition match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
During his innings of an unbeaten 94 off 50, Iftikhar even achieved a remarkable feat as he smashed the 20th over of the innings being bowled by Wahab Riaz for six sixes, accumulating 36 runs in the over. Riding on the 32-year-old's knock, Gladiators ended their innings at 184 runs at the end of 20 overs.
Following his remarkable six-hitting, a video of Iftikhar's last-over brilliance has gone viral on social media.
It is pertinent to note that Iftikhar hadn't really got off to a brisk start and took 42 balls to complete his half-century- a stat which shows the kind of destruction wreaked on the Peshawar Zalmi side in the slog overs. Out of the six sixes he hit in the final, the first one was hit by the batter in the square leg region, the second went a bit straighter. A six over the bowler's head and one over cover were the third and fourth balls to disappear into the crowd. The final two balls went towards the third-man region.
Iftikhar Ahmed Continuing His Good Form From BPL
Make hay when the sun shines they say and Iftikhar is certainly making it count when he is in good form. Before his innings for Quetta Gladiators, he played for Fortune Barishal in the Bangladesh Premier League where he was nothing short of impressive. The right-handed batter played 10 matches for the team in which he accumulated nearly 350 runs with the help of a splendid hundred and as many as three half-centuries.
