Pakistan entered as one the favourites in the much-awaited ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. However, the Afghans outclassed them in the first warm-up game played at Bristol on Friday. Bowling first, Afghanistan bowled out the one-time World Champions at 262. Later, they chased down the target with 3 wickets in hand and two balls to spare.

However, the instance that caught the attention of the viewers was the interaction between Afghan opener Hazratullah Zazai and young Pakistan spearhead Shaheen Shah Afridi.

The incident happened during the 4th over when the Afghans were at 0/14. Zazai decided to let loose and preyed on Afridi.

The opener clattered the left-arm quick for three consecutive boundaries but the pacer decided to chirp up when he eventually got one past the batsman as Zazai missed a pull shot. In reply, the batter simply put his head down, raised his right arm and flicked his wrist, telling the bowler to go back to his mark and stop wasting his energy.

Well, this was not the end of the Zazai’s hammering. He smacked another four through the on side and finished the over with his fifth boundary of the over.

Afghanistan announced their intentions of being more than mere pushovers as they stunned Pakistan by three wickets in a World Cup warm-up game that went to the wire. Zazai set the pace in the Powerplay overs which enabled Shahidi to deal in singles and the occasional boundary as the Pakistan bowling looked pedestrian.
