Big Bash League 2023-24: A couple seemingly of Indian origin stole the show during the Mebourne Derby in the Big Bash League 2023-24 as the man proposed his lover while being interviewed in the live crowd by one of the personnel of the broadcasting team. The Melbourne Derby is referred to a match between Melbourne Stars and Melbourne Renegades and is played at their common home ground, the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in Melbourne.

The proposal came during the second innings of the rain-affected match after rain reduced the game to a 14-overs-per-side fixture. Melbourne Stars were chasing a target of meagre 98 after their bowlers rattled the Renegades' batting order and every bowler contributed equally and Daniel Lawrence was the only bowler to scalp more than one wicket as Melbourne Renegades were restricted to 97/7, with South African veteran Quinton De Kock the only batter who crossed the 20-run mark as he scored a fighting 23 at the top of the order.

Tom Rogers made the Renegades believe that they can pull off one of the greatest comebacks of all time when he got rid of the dangerous English batter Daniel Lawrence as The Stars were reduced to 18/1 after 2.3 overs. But Beau Webster and Thomas Rogers had other plans as they both continued their fine run of form and guided Melbourne Stars to 53 in 7 overs before Peter Siddle scalped Beau Webster.

What next came is no wonder to every cricket fan and that was the 'The Big Show' as Glenn Maxwell continued his purple patch with a swasbuckling 32 off 15 as his aggressive intent saw Stars chase the target with 12 balls remaining.

Melbourne Stars, with this victory, have registered their first win of 2024 and fourth consecutive win in BBL 2023-24.
