Dynamic Australian batsman Chris Lynn stunned the crowd at Drummoyne Oval on Monday morning while batting for Queensland (QLD) against New South Wales (NSW) in the JLT one day cup. He scored his second century in three games on Monday, hammering the opposition bowlers including Pat Cummins to bring up three figures from just 87 deliveries.
Lynn came to bat at number three after the opener Max Byrant lost his wicket after adding 50-plus runs for the first wicket. Lyn, who got a duck in the opening game of the tournament, began hammering the NSW bowlers right from the beginning and took the control of the game in his hands.
Though the wickets kept falling from the other end at regular intervals, Lynn’s willow didn’t stop showing insanity across the ground.
With 7 huge sixes and 14 fours, Lynn smacked 135 runs off 113 deliveries before took a stunning catch to put an end to the mayhem in the 43rd over. NSW bowler Chris Green picked a five-for to restrict QLD at 296.
Following this extraordinary knock, Lynn is now in prime position to return to the national side for this month's T20 series against Pakistan.
Former Aussie coach Darren Lehmann believes he could be a trump card for Australia's World Cup defence. He said, “He's doing his World Cup chances no harm at all at the moment. I’d pick him for the T20s in Dubai and I'd seriously look at him to play and turn around our one-day form. He's in very good form and I'm sure Justin Langer will be looking at that sort of knock and saying 'we wouldn't mind him in our one-day set-up.”
