Ahead of Team India’s rescheduled Birmingham Test against England, starting July 1, Virat Kohli can be seen sweating it out with the team. However, with several media reports suggesting he contracted Covid-19, many are questioning how he is still part of the team.
ABP Live has learnt that Virat Kohli tested Covid-19 positive, with mild symptoms, after he returned from his Maldives vacation with his wife Anushka and daughter Vamika. However, the medical staff cleared him for travel to England with the Indian team.
If things are on the dot, Kohli, currently practising with the team, will be playing rescheduled fifth Test of India's 2021 series in England, which visitors lead by 2-1. The fifth Test was postponed following a COVID-19 outbreak in 2021.
On Wednesday, Kohli shared his pictures from India’s training session ahead of the rescheduled Test. “Practice well. Stay happy," Kohli captioned sharing images on Twitter.
Earlier, off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin missed his flight to England after testing positive for the coronavirus.
Meanwhile, some photographs of Team India captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli with fans in England have surfaced. Rohit and Kohli, without masks, can be seen taking selfies with fans in Leicester, where Team India is preparing for a warm-up match against Leicestershire County Cricket Club. It has been reported that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), in order to keep players' safety in mind amid increasing Covid-19 cases in England, will likely warn players from meeting fans and stepping out without masks.
