India’s ace batter Virat Kohli on Thursday added yet another feather to his cap after the right-handed batsman surpassed West Indies great Brian Lara to become the leading run-scorer among non-Australian players at the Adelaide Oval. Kohli owns 957 runs from 11 internationals at an incredible 73.61 at this venue. He overtook the legendary Lara, who earlier held this record. Lara slammed 940 runs at 67.14 in Adelaide.

England knocked India out of the tournament after registering a 10-wicket win in the semi-finals.

Kohli is also now the first batsman in history to amass 4000 runs in T20 Internationals. He required 42 runs to reach 4000 T20I runs and he achieved the landmark in the 15th over when he smashed a boundary off Adil Rashid.

Kohli remained the highest run-scorer in the tournament with 296 runs with 4 half-centuries. England will take on the Pakistan team in the final, no batsman from these two teams is even in the top 5 of the list of highest run scorers. In such a situation, this year too Kohli will remain the highest scorer in the tournament. Kohli achieved this feat in 2014 and 2016 as well.
