India’s ace batter Virat Kohli is now the first batsman in history to amass 4000 runs in T20 Internationals. He achieved this feat on Thursday against England in the second semi-final of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022. Kohli required 42 runs to reach 4000 T20I runs and he achieved the landmark in the 15th over when he smashed a boundary off Adil Rashid.
Earlier, Kohli became the leading run-getter in men’s T20 World Cup cricket during the Super 12 match against Bangladesh at the Adelaide Oval.
He reached the feat when he crossed 16 runs, surpassing the Sri Lanka captain Mahela Jayawardene’s record tally of 1016 runs. Kohli has scored the most number of the fifties in T20 World Cups. The former India skipper won the player of the tournament in both the 2014 and 2016 T20 World Cups.
Talking about the India-England clash, India batted first and scored 168 runs in 20 overs. Virat Kohli yet again starred with the bat and scored a brilliant half-century. Hardik Pandya too played a blinder as he made 63 runs in just 33 balls.
