India in T20 World Cup 2024: Ex-Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly feels that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli should bat as openers for team India in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 tournament, scheduled to kickoff from June onwards in West Indies and USA.

"Both Rohit Sharma and Viral Kohli will definitely go to West Indies and USA. Its a call for selectors whom they will open with but if you ask me personally both Rohit and Virat should open for India in the T20 World Cup," Ganguly said, news agency PTI reported on Monday.

Virat Kohli continues to dominate as the leading run-scorer in IPL 2024, amassing a total of 379 runs so far, including two half-centuries and one century. The RCB star's impressive average stands at 63.16, accompanied by a good strike rate of 150.39.

However, Ganguly remains optimistic, asserting that Kohli possesses the potential to score a century off just 40 deliveries.
