India skipper Virat Kohli on Sunday registred his name against another record by becoming India's leading run scorer in the shortest format of the game during the 2nd T20 international between India and West Indies at Lauderhill in Florida.


Virat Kohli eclipsed Suresh Raina as India's top run getter in T20 internationals. India vice-captain Rohit Sharma (8291) and opener Shikhar Dhawan (6953) are the other two top Indian scorers in the T20 format.

Kohli contributed to India's 167-run total with 28 runs in the 2nd T20I against West Indies to amass 8416 runs in his T20 career and overtake Raina's tally of 8392 runs. He was clean  bowled by Windies pacer Sheldon Cottrell

The prolific run scorer is also the second highest half-centuries in the shortest format of the game. Kohli is only behind his deputy Rohit Sharma, who has 21 fifties to his name. However, Kohli has played just 62 innings as compared to Rohit's 86.

India is currently playing West Indies in a 3-match T20I series. The Men in Blue are leading the series 2-0 after winning the the first two games against the Windies at Lauderhill, Florida.

The T20I series against the West Indies will be followed by 3 ODI games and two Test matches.
