Virat Kohli Joins India Teammates In New York: Virat Kohli, the star India batter, has joined the rest of his Team India teammates in New York ahead of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024. Kohli arrived on Friday (May 31), five days after the his other teammates had landed in the city. With Kohli reaching the city late, there is no certainty over his participation in the team's lone warm-up fixture ahead of their T20 World Cup opener against Ireland on June 5.

India are set to take on Bangladesh in their practice match at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium on June 1 (Saturday). "Virat Kohli has checked in at the team hotel and after a long flight, he would be taking rest," a senior BCCI source was quoted by news agency PTI, confirming Kohli's arrival.

Having taken a long 16-hour flight to reach New York, it could be left to Kohli to decide if he wants to go and have a hit in the match against Bangladesh. After a long IPL 2024 season with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in which he ended up as the winner of Orange Cap for scoring the most number of runs (751 runs in 15 matches), it's not that he is out of touch. The only thing that might tempt him to play a game is the drop-in surface at the venue where they are set to play three of their four group-stage fixtures.

Virat Kohli's Scheduled Won't Be Tinkered With: Report

Not only have the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) made exceptions to allow Kohli to join the Indian team late, he also opted for a break before the South Africa Test series while also skipping the entire England Test series, midway through which he announced that he and Anushka had welcomed a baby boy.
