Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir are two giants of Indian cricket. While Gambhir has transitioned from being a cricketer to a commentator, politician and now the head coach of the senior Indian men's cricket team, Kohli, who is Gambhir's junior, is continuing to leave his mark in world cricket having made his name as one of the finest batters of the current generation.

Chasing 275 to win in the 2011 ICC Men's ODI World Cup final, India were reduced to 31/2 in 6.1 overs with Sachin Tendulkar walking back to the pavilion. It was then that Kohli and Gambhir had joined hands in the middle to produce one of the most significant partnerships of their careers. The duo put on 83 off 93 for the third wicket to take India out of a spot of bother and closer to the title.
