New Delhi: India posted mammoth 600 runs in the first innings against Sri Lanka after brilliant batting show by the Indian batsmen. In response, Sri Lanka suffered early jolts but it was Upul Tharanga’s dismissal that will hurt Rangana Hearath’s men.
The left hand batsman was dismissed in the most controversial fashion to become a victim of Mukund and Saha’s brilliant fielding.
The incident took place in the 34th over of the Sri Lankan innings when Ashwin delivered to Tharanga, who danced down the track and played towards the silly point. Though, Tharanga managed to reach the crease before ball reached the stumps with help of a dive but his forward moment meant his bat was off the ground exactly when the bails were dislodged and eventually was given out by the third umpire.
The 32-year-old could be the last one to be dismissed in this fashion with ICC set to change the rules from October 1.
