India are off to a horror start in the first Test aganst New Zealand at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. After winning the toss and opting to bat first on Day 2, the hosts lost early wickets and were reduced to 10/3. It could have been much worse as Rishabh Pant nicked one ball off William O’Rourke but the Kiwi wicketkeeper Tom Blundell failed to take hold on to a regulation catch behind the stumps.


The incident happened on the third ball of the 15th over when Pant was batting on 7. The southpaw went for a loose drive away from the body and edged it behind the stumps but the BlackCaps stumper could not hold on to the catch, spilling an easy chance.

Netizens showed no mercy on Blundell. They were quick to point out that it was a blunder from the New Zealand star.

New Zealand Pacers On Fire


Even though India elected to bat and New Zealand captain Tom Blundell also said he would have liked to bat first, it is the Kiwi pacers who made the most of helpful conditions in the first session on Day 2.

Each of the three pacers in Tim Southee, Matt Henry and William O'Rourke picked up a wicket each to remove Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Sarfaraz Khan. Rohit could only make 2 while Kohli and Sarfaraz departed for ducks. Day 1 of the first Test match between India and New Zealand in Bengaluru was called off without a ball being bowled.
