Pakistan star speedster Shaheen Afridi made a terrific comeback to international cricket after a knee injury. In the second warm-up game against Afghanistan, Afridi scalped the wickets of Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Hazratullah Zazai.
The left-arm seamer bowled a toe-crushing Yorker to Gurbaz and he was in sheer pain as the ball struck on his left foot. Immediately after that physios stepped on the field and the game was stopped for a while.
Gurbaz was then taken away from the field by a substitute fielder as he couldn't walk. Eventually, it was disclosed that Gurbaz was taken to the hospital for scans. Talking about the match, Afghanistan finished on 154 runs with the help of Nabi’s knock of 51.
On Wednesday, the Afghanistan Cricket Board posted an update on its Twitter handle and said, “Gurbaz was sent for scans after being hit on his left foot during the warmup game. The team Doctor stated that the results are clear with no bone fracture. He will be assessed in the next two days & is expected to be available for our fixture on Saturday.”
Pakistan will play India on October 23 at Melbourne Cricket Ground.
