T20 IND Vs ENG: Ishan Kishan Dedicates Fifty To His Coach’s Late Father, Thanks Mumbai Indians

After winning the Man of the Match in the 2nd India vs England T20I, Kishan dedicated the award to his ‘coach’s dad’, who passed away recently.

India vs England 2^nd T20: Ishan Kishan won the Man of the Match award after his stellar batting performance against England in the second T20 match in Ahmedabad. It was his debut international T20 match. After winning the award, he did an unusual gesture that won many hearts. The batsman dedicated his award to the late father of his coach during the post-match presentation. He revealed that his coach’s father passed away recently.

"My coach's dad passed away a few days back and this innings was for him. I wanted to prove myself because he said you have to score at least fifty for my Dad. So I want to dedicate this award to him," Kishan said during the post-match presentation. His entertaining fifty helped India cross the line with ease in the 2^nd T20I against England.

Kishan has rescued the Mumbai Indians in the IPL many times in the past. He had a good 2020 IPL season with the franchise. He said, “Credit goes to my seniors who told me to go and express myself. It's not easy to come and play your first game against a quality side. Mumbai Indians helped me a lot and I want to continue the momentum. The shot in which I smashed Tom for a six off his first ball, that was special. That was the moment I felt I could keep doing this."

India lost the first wicket for a score of zero and things could have gone south after a wicket-maiden to start the innings. But Ishan Kishan did not take any pressure and paced his innings aggressively. He scored his fifty in 28 balls. His first ball was a boundary-ball and since then, he never looked back. He didn’t look like getting out but unfortunately was out LBW to Adil Rashid while playing an expansive sweep shot. He was naturally disappointed as he got out playing an unconventional stroke.

Ishan Kishan also took to Twitter to thanks his fans and the team for showing support:

"Wanted to finish the game and I knew there was a senior player batting superbly at the other end. I was disappointed with the fact that I didn't finish the game. I don't know if I'm going to get this feeling again, but I'm really proud and happy and I want to thank all my coaches, seniors and everyone who helped me get here. Now it's my time to show them what I've got. I had a lot of hunger in me for this innings," Ishan Kishan concluded.
