BBL 2024/25: Moises Henriques produces a captain's knock, as Sydney Sixers are off to a winning start in their Big Bash League 2024/25 campaign by inflicting a 5-wicket win over Melbourne Renegades at the Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney. With the win, they are now second in the table, behind Perth Scorchers due to inferior Net Run Rate.

Sydney Sixers won the toss and decided to bowl first against Melbourne Renegades, but the decision initially seemed to have backfired, as the visitors were 81/2 after 8.2 overs.

However, the downfall of the side started with the dismissal of Mackenzie Harvey, and the middle order succumbed under pressure. A late surge allowed the side to reach the 169-run mark, and the home side needed 170 runs to make a winning start to their campaign.

They did so in convincing fashion, as Moises Henriques scored an unbeaten 53 to finish the game with 9 balls remaining.

"It was a nerve wracking game but we put our best foot forward and got ourselves to a winning start. We bowled well and the wicket was quite good. We were confident of chasing it down. I was trying to watch the ball till the end and hit it well. We targeted the short boundary and it was always going to be tough for Adam Zampa as we targeted him in the Surge. Dwarshuis and Abbott bowled well in the death. Joel Davies also did a good job and really happy for him," said Moises Henriques, Sydney Sixers Captain who was awarded Player of the Match.
