Right ahead of the decider against England on Sunday, star Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan has received an emotional blow.

The left-hand dynamic batsman lost his maternal grandmother a day before he could play England in the last T20I game. Dhawan, on July 7, took to his Instagram handle to express hi loss with his fans. Describing the greatness of his departed ‘Nani’, the star Indian opener wrote:

“She had the perfect blend of strength and softness. She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother and great grandmother. She was one to live the life she wanted you to lead. She has traditional values with a modern mind. She was 89 years old but when she smiled she reminded you of a 5-year-old child. Will miss her physically but not her presence because she will always be with us and looking over us. Sad that u left us all, but glad u lived your life Gracefully.”
