India's Tour Of Sri Lanka: Sri Lanka cricket have officially anounced the replacement of Dushmantha Chameera ahead of the white-ball series against India, as the right-arm fast bowler is reportedly recovering from a bronchitis and respiratory infection. The Lankan giants have named Asitha Fernando as his replacement, as the hosts are scheduled to play 3 T20I's and 3 ODI's against India.

"Only yesterday did we get back the reports, and it can be confirmed that he will miss the T20Is and ODIs against India," said Upul Tharanga, Sri Lanka's Chief Selector, while addressing the press with the details on Wednesday.

Here's What Asitha Fernando Can Bring To The Table

Asitha Fernando receives the call-up in the white-ball set-up of Sri Lanka after delivering decent performances in the recently-concluded Lanka Premier League 2024. The Jaffna Kings player stepped up on the occasion, as he bagged in the figures of 3/35 in his 4 overs, as they managed to win a record fourth title against Galle Marvels.

The 26-year old managed to pick up 10 wickets at an economy rate of 9.61 in his 10 matches in LPL 2024, and the right-arm pacer will be looking to seal his spot on a regular basis, as he is oftenly used in the red-ball set-up of Sri Lanka cricket.

Sri Lanka does have a variety of options in both, pace and spin department, but it will be interesting to see how they fare out against the mighty Indian side, who are on a dream run across all formats from past 18 months.

Sri Lanka will also be undergoing a new era, as Charith Asalanka has been named as the new skipper of the side in T20I in the aftermath of Wanindu Hasaranga announcing his decision to step down earlier this month.
