Ahead of the seventeenth season of the Indian Premier League, a Sunrisers Hyderabad star finds himself in the middle of a controversy off the field. The cricketer in question happens to be Abhishek Sharma who has received a summon by local police in relation to a suicide case of Surat-based model Tania Singh. As per multiple media reports, Tania had been working in field of fashion and modelling and enjoyed a decent following on social media.

A report carried by Ahmedabad Mirror claims that the 28-year-old deceased originally hailed from Rajasthan and resided at the Happy Elegance in Vesu area. The deceased happened to be studying fashion designing but ended her life by hanging herself from the ceiling of her apartment.

While police has suspected a love affair behind Tania's suicide and is checking out calls details of her mobile phone which has brought Abhishek's name into the scheme of things as reportedly it was the cricketer that was on her last dialled list. Initial details suggest that there is no real contact between the deceased and Abhishek for a long time. However, since he had been her friend for a long time, he has been called for questioning.

As far as Abhishek Sharma's IPL career is concerned, the all-rounder has scored 893 runs at a strike rate of 137.38 in 47 matches in the T20 league with a highest score of 75 runs. In addition, he has scalped 9 wickets in the tournament. While Sharma recently hogged the limelight when he smashed five sixes in an over while playing for Punjab against Tamil Nadu in a Ranji Trophy fixture, becoming the fourth Indian to achieve the feat, his batting approach earned criticism from Hyderabad's coach Hemang Badani.

"And got out for 36 in a 4 day game which his team lost, where they were trying to save the game. One needs to play according to the format and situation," Badani wrote in a post on X.
