For the one-off T20I between Sri Lankan and England, star batsman Thisara Perera is all set to lead his side against the visitors after being named as the skipper by the Sri Lanka Cricket on Monday, October 22. The all-rounder will replace former captain Angelo Mathews who has been left out again.
After claiming a fiery five-wicket haul during the second ODI against England, veteran bowler Lasith Malinga earned his way back into the squad for the much awaited thriller against England. Malinga revived his chances for a comeback after impressing the selectors, he picked up four wickets against Bangladesh in the Asia Cup, this year.
Mathews, after getting dropped from the ODI squad has now been sidelined for the T20I as well in the ongoing home series against England.
After putting up an impressive show against the visiting side in a warm-up game for Sri Lanka Board XI, Kamindu Mendis, too managed to find a spot in the 15-man squad. Menids is a very gifted player as he his gifted with the ability to use the right and left hands equally well. The all-rounder has played six Lists A and six T20 games so far.
Rest of the squad consists of usual players like Dinesh Chandimal, Niroshan Dickwella and Kusal Mendis. Kusal Perera, makes his comeback after missing the three ODIs against the visitors due to injury.
