Vice-president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Rajiv Shukla has given his opinion on the controversial Cameron Green catch which got rid of Shubman Gill on day four of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final at the Oval in London on Saturday (June 10). Despite a section of fans on social media not too pleased with the decision as they shared images in which the ball seems to be touching the ground, Shukla reckons that there should not be any dispute over the call and the decision of the third umpire should be accepted.

Notably, the incident happened during India's second innings on Day 4. After being given a target of 444 to win, the Indian batters had started off positively but an extra bit of bounce on a Scott Boland delivery got the better of Gill as the ball took the shoulder of his bat and went to the slip cordon where Green took what seemed like a sensational catch. However, replays showed that it was tough call as a few frames sparked a bit of a doubt over whether it was clean catch. The third umpire though decided to deem it out.

After various cricketers expressed their views on the same, Shukla too commented on the matter and said that the call of the third umpire should be accepted.

"We should not create a dispute over this. We should accept the decision of the Third umpire," Shukla told ANI.

"Ajinkya Rahane and Virat Kohli are batting well and if everyone plays safe we can chase down the target as the target is not that big," he added.

Since his remark though, India have lost two more wickets with Kohli getting out on 49 followed by Ravindra Jadeja's dismissal for 0. Rahane along with KS Bharat are out in the middle as India have gone past 200 but only have 5 more wickets in hand.
