India's 18-year-old debutant Prithvi Shaw won the hearts of all the cricketing fans around the world by his batting performance in the two-match Test series against the West Indies. Shaw, who has already made several records in Tests, was chosen the Man of the Series for his excellent batting. With this award, he became the fourth Indian and 10th player of the world to become the Man of the Series in a first Test series.
"It was a happy moment for me and finishing the game for India means a lot for me. It is my first series, winning 2-0 and winning the man of the series makes it all the more special," said Shaw.
Shaw batted three times in a two-match series in which he scored 237 runs with a century and a half century. He currently averages 118.5, which is currently the highest in the longest format of the game. In the first Test played at Rajkot, Shaw scored 134 runs and became the youngest batsman in India to score a century on debut in the longest format of the game.
Even in the first innings of the second Test, Prithvi played brilliantly and smashed the West Indies bowlers all over the field. He scored 70 runs in 53 balls, including 11 fours and one six. In the second innings, he scored an unbeaten 33 runs, including four fours.
The 18-year-old was awarded Man of the Series for his special and aggressive batting. Earlier, in 2011 Ravichandran Ashwin and Rohit Sharma in 2013 got Man of the Series in the debut test.
