Shardul Thakur, the star India all-rounder, has undergone a successful foot sugey on Wednesday (June 12) in London. With Thakur having undergone a surgery, he is expected to be out of competitive cricket for a minimum of three months. The 32-year-old confirmed the developmet himself through a social media post. He captioned the post: "Operated Successfully".
It happens to be the second foot surgery that he has sustained during the course of his career. Previously, he had gone under the knife in 2019. Notably, Shardul's injury had recurred earlier in the year during the tour of South Africa. He did manage to return during Mumbai's victorious Ranji Trophy season, requesting the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for longer breaks in between the matches to ensure swift recovery.

Shardul Thakur Misses Out On Place In India's T20 World Cup 2024 Squad
The surgery means Shardul Thakur was not even in consideration for a place in India's T20 World Cup 2024 squad. Thakur plied his trade for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, managing only five wickets in nine outings at an economy of 9.75.
India have gone ahead with Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube as the seam-bowling all-round options in the team with Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja also being fielded in the Same playing 11, in a bid to bolster their batting at the same time, giving them bowling options.
