Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar rolled back the clock to recall India's title winning World Cup campaign on June 25, 1983 under the captaincy of Kapil Dev. On the 37th anniversary of arguably Indian cricket's historic triumph, Sachin fondly recalled his memories of watching the 1983 World Cup final against the West Indies with his friends

Sachin Tendulkar, who in the past has always highlighted the impact of the 1983 World Cup win on him pursuing a career in cricket, termed India beating West Indies is a 'landmark event' in his life.

Taking to social media on Thursday, Sachin Tendulkar said he and his friends were celebrating the fall of each and every West Indian wicket during the epic final, that went onto become one of India's greatest triumphs in cricket.

"The #TheWorldCup1983 Final like for many was a landmark event in my life.

"Still recall my friends & I celebrating all wickets right from BS Sandhu's epic delivery to Greenidge to Kapil Paaji's catch. We jumped & celebrated the fall of each wicket! What an evening it was (sic)," Tendulkar said.

Dubbed as Underdogs, 'Kapil's Devils' overcame all odds and defied critics to beat the all conquering West Indies side in a low scoring final at the Lord's, London. Labeled as 'Rank Outsiders', India picked up steam early in the tournament by upsetting the West Indies, Zimbabwe and Australia to gain momentum courtesy some fine individual performances and team work to stun the West Indies on the big day.

The World Cup triumph, as pointed out by Kris Srikkanth, was not just a turning point for Indian cricket but for many Indians in general. Among the ones who watched the final and 'celebrated till late in the night' were Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid.
