Rajasthan Royals cricketer Robin Uttappa who is having a nightmarish run with the willow in the thirteenth IPL in the UAE registered an unwanted record against his name after his team lost to Kolkata Knight Riders in Dubai on Wednesday (Sept 30).

Uttappa went past RCB skipper Virat Kohli's record for most matches lost by a cricketer in the Indian Premier League's history. RR's 37-run defeat to KKR was Uttappa's 90 defeat in the IPL, the most for any cricketer in the history of the league.

Besides Uttappa and Kohli, the list for most losses also features KKR skipper Dinesh Karthik and Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Rohit Sharma at the 3rd and the 4th spot respectively. While Karthik has been on the losing side in 87 game, Rohit has suffered 85 defeats in his IPL career DC spinner Amit Mishra and RCB batsman are at 5th spot with 57 defeats each.

A journeyman in the IPL, the 34-year old Uttappa has played for five franchises (MI, RCB, PWI, KKR AND RR) in the IPL. He enjoyed a stellar stint with Kolkata Knight Riders being part of the champion side in 2014. The Karnataka batsman was roped in by Rajasthan Royals for Rs 3 crore in the IPL 2020 auction after being released by KKR after the 2019 edition of the league.

Uthappa has failed to get going with the bat in all the 3 games for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2020 so far, scoring 5, 9 and 2.
