In a fresh development on the appointment of India's new head coach, it is being learnt that Rahul Dravid would be appointed as India's coach after the T20 World Cup ends. There were speculations about Dravid being the coach as The Wall wanted to be the director at the National Cricket Academy. (NCA)
Despite Dravid's reservations, a report in TOI claims that BCCI Secretary Jay Shah and President Sourav Ganguly were able to persuade Dravid to be the coach of the team. “Dravid has confirmed he will be the next head coach of the Indian team. He will be stepping down as the head of the NCA soon,” a top BCCI official told TOI.
The report also claims that Dravid will draw a salary of Rs. 10 crore per month.
As reported earlier, Rahul Dravid's coaching stint with team India can begin with the series against New Zealand starting on November 17. It was also reported that Paras Mhambrey, Dravid's trusted partner might be India's bowling coach. There hasn't been any decisions on India's fielding coach.
"He (Dravid) has worked so hard to develop the next line of Indian cricketers. Even Mhambrey knows this next lot of players like the back of his hand. So, Ganguly and Shah thought it would be best if they could bring both of them on board. They will assume charge from the New Zealand series after the World Cup,” the source added.

It has to be noted that Ravi Shastri will be the coach of Team India till the T20 World Cup. The names of Anil Kumble and VVS Laxman also came up for the coach of Team India, but these two veterans have backed out of this responsibility. At the same time, many former players of Australia have also shown interest in becoming the coach of the Indian team, but the board is trying to give this responsibility to an Indian only.
