The Indian team head coach Rahul Dravid alongside his wife Vijeta were spotted seeing their son Samit play in the Cooch Behar Trophy match between Karnataka and Uttarakhand. Since Dravid is on a break, the NCA head VVS Laxman is doing the coach’s duty in the ongoing T20I series against Australia. Dravd's son, Samit who is an all-rounder, bowled five overs giving away 11 runs, including two maidens, at stumps on Day 1. Uttarakhand on the other side, ended the day at 232/9 in 90 overs. Skipper Aarav Mahajan came up with a splendid century as he made 127 off 236 balls, including 18 boundaries.
Samit collected 55 (84) and two off five deliveries against Himachal Pradesh in the Cooch Behar Trophy as Karnataka sealed a five-wicket win. He also amassed 51 runs off 122 balls against Delhi in a losing cause. Earlier, Rahul Dravid acknowledged the BCCI after his conrtact was extended by the board. His tenure as head coach ended at the end of the 2023 World Cup but then the board decided to extend his tenure.
"I thank the BCCI and the Office Bearers for placing their trust in me, endorsing my vision, and providing support during this period. The demands of this role necessitate considerable time away from home, and I deeply appreciate my family's sacrifices and support. Their instrumental role behind the scenes has been invaluable. As we embrace new challenges post the World Cup, we remain committed to the pursuit of excellence," Dravid said.
The former India coach has two young kids and both are playing cricket on a professional front. His elder son Samit represents Karnataka in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy while his younger son, Anvay, was appointed as the captain of the Karnataka U14 team.
