Talented batter Prithvi Shaw has been ruled out from the remainder of the One-Day Cup tournament in England with Northamptonshire will be missing his services. Shaw sustained a  knee injury on Sunday and as a result, he was ruled out.  The Mumbai-based batter who broke many records in his debut County stint with Northamptonshire, picked up an injury on his knee while fielding in the One-Day Cup match against Durham last week.

As per the official statement issued by Northamptonshire, Shaw will not be playing anymore in the One-Day Cup in England. According to the latest scan reports, it said that Shaw's injury is way more serious than initially expected.

“In his short stint Prithvi has made a huge impact on us as a club. It’s a huge shame he won’t be with us for the remainder of this comp.” Head Coach John Sadler was quoted as saying.

“He’s an extremely humble young man, he’s very respectful and had been so grateful for the opportunity to represent Northamptonshire.”

Last week, the Mumbai-based player collected the sixth-highest One-Day score of 244 for Northamptonshire against Somerset at the County Ground. Shaw also became the second Indian batsman to make 150-plus score in the 50-over tournament. Post hitting a record-breaking 244 off 153 balls in Northamptonshire's 87-run win over Somerset, Shaw continued his brilliant run with the bat, registering a brilliant century against Durham.

“As well as his performances on the field he had a huge impact in our dressing room. Nobody wanted to win games more than him and he contributed to us doing so. We wish him well and hope to see him scoring runs again soon,” Sadler added.

The last time Shaw played for India was back against Sri Lanka in July 2021.
