Ever since Brendon McCullum and Ben Stokes took the onus of the English team, they have only lost four of their last 18 matches. Back in 2021 Ashes in Australia, the English side suffered a humiliating defeat and as a result, the England team management sacked head coach Chris Silverwood and Joe Root also stepped down as skipper.
Post losing two back-to-back games in the 2023 Ashes at home, England put up a stunning fightback and won the third game. The fourth Test finished in a draw, England won the fifth and final game against Australia and continued their aggressive style of play.
Talking about the same, the veteran India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin spoke about England's Bazball approach and said he cannot wait for them to come to India to take part in the Test series in 2024.
“England are playing a very exciting brand of cricket that has excited a lot of people around the world. On the other hand, we have been extremely consistent and successful in recent years," Ashwin was quoted as saying by India Today.
The England team under the leadership of Ben Stokes will now be playing in a five-game Test series against India in January-March next year.
"I cannot wait for them to come here and I don't think they are going to take one foot backward, they will continue to play the way they play. It wouldn't be an overstatement if I say that England is possibly the team to beat at this point of time," Ashwin concluded.
Recently, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) declared the provisional squad of 15 members for the upcoming World Cup in India. The highlight of the team is the return of Ben Stokes who announced his retirement from ODI Cricket but now has taken a U-turn to be part of the marquee cricket tournament.
