T20 World Cup PAK vs AFG: As Dubai International Stadium witnessed an exciting match between Pakistan and Afghanistan on Friday, a huge crowd gathered outside the stadium. In fact, thousands of spectators attempted to enter the stadium without tickets on Friday evening. They were stopped from entering the stadium by Police. Due to this ruckus, a large number of spectators who had valid tickets were unable to enter the stadium. This created a major uproar and the situation outside the stadium deteriorated.
This is why situation went from bad to worse:
Before the match started, thousands of spectators who did not have valid tickets gathered outside the stadium. They then made an attempt to enter the stadium. Even after being explained and warned by the police, they refused to budge and created a ruckus. This caused Dubai police to close all gates to the stadium by 7pm. This caused spectators who had valid tickets not being able to enter the stadium, with most of them waiting since half an hour.
First of it's kind incident in a World Cup tournament:
A total of 16,000 tickets were issued for this match between Pakistan and Afghanistan. These were low numbers when it comes to the stadium's capacity. However, the way the spectators created a ruckus during this match, such an incident has never happened in a World Cup tournament ever.
Spectators unable to enter even after holding valid tickets to be refunded:
After this incident, the ICC has asked the Emirates Cricket Board to investigate the matter. Along with this, the ICC has also announced refunds to spectators who were unable to enter the stadium even after having valid tickets.
