New Delhi: Nathan Lyon, an Australian spinner has now exceeded former South African legend Dale Steyn in order to become the 9th highest wicket-taker in Test cricket. He achieved this feat on Day 3 of the first Test match against West Indies on Friday. Lyon surpassed Steyn's tally of 439 Test wickets by taking 440 scalps.
He will now be needing three more wickets to go past Ravichandran Ashwin who probably will be featuring in a Test match against Bangladesh starting this Sunday.
Australia’s speedster Pat Cummins also became the 19th Aussie bowler to scalp 200 Test wickets. He achieved this milestone after he took the wicket of Kraigg Brathwaite. It was indeed a day that turned out in Australia’s favor as their bowlers restricted West Indies' innings for 283. With already having a huge first-innings lead of 315 runs, the Kangaroos had the choice to ask West Indies to bat again but they decided to bat again. Australia are 93/1 and they are now leading by 408 runs.
