Even the cricketing fraternity was left thunderstruck with Thala's retirement announcement. Though Dhoni did not mention the formats he is retiring from, but surely August 15 marks the end of a golden era in the world of cricket.

Dhoni's last ODI match was when India lost to New Zealand in the semi-final of the 2019 World Cup in Old Trafford. Ever since then there was speculation around his future.
