Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan on Thursday posted a heartfelt message on Facebook for his teammate Mohammad Shahzad Mohammedi's mother after she died. In his post, the Afghani spinner wrote: We belong to Allah and to Him we shall return...For the death of the mother of national star Shahzad Mohammadi, I pray for him to be patient and to grant his mother Bibi the great Lord of Paradise.

In August 2019, Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) had suspended Mohammad Shahzad from all forms of cricket for a period of 12 months on grounds of violating ACB's disciplinary rules.

Before this, Shahzad's contract was "suspended for indefinite period" for breaching the ACB Code of Conduct but the ACB later fixed the term of his suspension, which will now last one year.

Shahzad, who is based in Peshawar, Pakistan, was sent back home midway through the World Cup 2019 after playing just two matches. In year 2018, ACB had fined Shahzad and asked him to relocate to Afghanistan permanently or risk having his contract terminated.
